The Human Side of SEO and Back Linking with Brian Dean

SEO is one of the marketing disciplines that everyone has a vague opinion about but when you dig deeper, they really don’t know how to effectively execute a strategy in todays rapidly changing search landscape.

Brian Dean actually knows how to leverage SEO and back linking to achieve amazing organic search success and more importantly business success. He’s proven it time and time again, without resorting to any black hat trickery. he’s amazingly generous with his knowledge, a fantastic content creator and one of my favorite people to talk to about the technical aspects of content marketing. He does a great job of talking like a normal human being when describing complex tactics. In addition to launching the the SEO blog Backlinko, he’s been able to rank on the first page of google for highly competitive terms like Backlinks, SEO Strategy and Keyword Research, Brian has built an amazing business and following with an audience that swears by his SEO training. We dive deep into modern link building, how to create content that’s SEO worthy and the challenges of super fast growth.

Have you ever been frustrated after creating content and not having it gain traction?

More and more, the process of building relationships online [aka modern link building] is being integrated into the marketing strategies of many companies. We’re not just talking about likes and twitter followers. This is about being focused and providing value to the people most likely to be interested in linking to and sharing the content you’ve created. Seldom does viral content spread on it’s own, it usually takes some seeding to create the right environment for the content to spread.

Modern SEO and back linking is hard work to be sure, but the results that it provides far outweigh the effort required to get it done.

I’ve enjoyed watching Brian dominate his niche with what he calls Sky Scraper content, where you create content so good, it’s considered the definitive resource on the subject. He’s turned the concept of pumping out non-stop content on it’s head, and focused instead on creating fewer high quality pieces of content then taking the time to socialize them so they rank on Google. SEO today is all about the things you would be proud to show the search engines.

Listen in for an honest account of what marketing is all about. The tips, hacks and strategies that professionals share with each other but rarely talk about in public.
